Moncler

Logo Reveal Animation

Role: Motion Design
Logo reveal animation and voice-over keyword animation for Moncler’s “Born To Protect” campaign. Soon agency with creative director Brendan Dunne needed motion design work to bring to life a selection of keywords chosen from the voice-over narration throughout this winter campaign film. The task was to create a strong rhythm and dynamic while maintaining a good level of simplicity.
The inspirations they shared with me contained some very neat, brutalist typography treatments from retro 16-18mm films, with textured edges and flickering light.
Combining a number of techniques, I was able to emulate this crisp yet analogue look, as if the text was cast over footage from an old projector.
With the designed style frames and storyboard provided to me by Soon, my task was to find the mood and to simulate the right timing and pace for each word and sentence.
In addition to the main animation for the film campaign, I was also asked to animate the reveal of Moncler’s logo at the opening and closing of the films.

I for sure have a thing for very sublte motion work, getting in the nitty gritty a micro shaky movement to a slightly flickering edge of a word. I enjoy generating a feel with a barely visible effect. The rhythm of the keywords play hand in hand with the editing work, Soon did an amazing jon at pacing these with the voice over and sound design, delivering plenty of information in little time with a lot of emotions and grandeur.

Part of the Instagram and social media needs, I have animated a series of four pillars to be used across all platforms.
